Kobayashi, Prokopuik fall at Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships

MALIBU, Calif. – Miki Kobayashi and Alexis Prokopuik both picked up singles wins this weekend at the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at Pepperdine University before being eliminated from the tournament.
Saturday started off with the pre-qualifying doubles round. Kobayashi and Prokopuik teamed up against a duo from Georgia. After going up 2-0, the Huskies lost 8-5.
In pre-qualifying singles, Kobayashi picked up a win against SMU's Traxier. She won in two sets, 6-4, 6-4. Her next match on Saturday was against Margot Decker from Kansas State, which she won in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. To advance to the qualifying round, she played Jaeda Daniel from Auburn on Sunday. However, she lost 6-1, 6-2.
Prokopuik won her first pre-qualifying singles match on Saturday. She defeated Ria Vaidya from the University of Pennsylvania 6-3, 7-5. In her next match later that day, she was eliminated by Marina Espana from Oklahoma State, 6-4, 6-2.
The tournament continues this week with the qualifying and main draw rounds. Stacey Fung will compete in the main draw beginning on Thursday.
