SEATTLE -- For the fifth time this season, senior
Kelsey Plum of the University of Washington women's basketball team has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for her performances against Cal and Stanford.
This is Plum's seventh career player of the week honor from the league and fifth this season, which is the most by any player. Washington has earned the award for four consecutive weeks and leads all teams with eight total this season.
The nation's leading scorer moved into third on the NCAA's all-time scoring list over the weekend. Plum drained a career-high seven three-pointers against Stanford and matched a season-high with 44 points for the fourth time this season, one short of her career-high. She made 17-of-27 shots and was the team's second leading rebounder with six boards. There was a stretch in the second quarter where the Poway, Calif. native scored 18 consecutive points for the Huskies.
Against Cal on Friday (Jan. 27), Plum scored 24 points, including four three-pointers, and led the team with five assists. She was also the team's second leading rebounder, pulling down seven boards.
Washington (20-3, 8-2) is back in action this weekend, traveling to Utah on Friday (Feb. 3) and Colorado on Sunday (Feb. 5).
