Coming Up
The Pac-12 teams open up conference play this week and the Huskies will begin their conference slate on the road. Washington will first face the UCLA Bruins on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. PT. The match will be aired on the Pac-12 Network. Following the match, the team will travel to SDSU for a Sunday afternoon match at 12 p.m. on Oct. 2. Live stats for the match will be available.Β
Champions of the Seattle CupΒ
Last Sunday, the Washington Huskies battled for ninety minutes with Seattle University for the inaugural Seattle Cup presented by the Washington Athletics Conference. The Huskies took down the Redhawks, 2-1 in a match that came down to the final horn.Β
Handwalla Bwana scored the first goal of the match from the top of the box in the 27th minute, his third of the season. In the 53rd minute, fellow freshman Elijah Rice, earned his first goal of the season off an assist from Luke Hauswirth. Seattle University's, John Tyler, scored the Redhawks lone goal in the 88th minute.Β

True freshman Handwalla Bwana currently holds the most points on the team with ten points. He has played in all eight matches for a total of 401 minutes. He has fifteen shots, four assists and three goals I just eight matches as a Husky and is a driving force on Washington's offense.Β
Rice Stepping UpΒ
True freshman Elijah Rice made his first starting half appearance on Sunday against Seattle University. He started the second half and less than ten minutes in, he scored the team's second goal of the night, solidifying their lead. Rice did not play in the Oral Roberts and Dartmouth matches as he was in Serbia playing for the US U19 National Team. He has played in five matches for the Purple and Gold and has two shots on the season.Β
On the DefensiveΒ
Washington's back row composed of Justin Schmidt, Quentin Pearson, Justin Fiddes, Corban Anderson and Garret Jackson have played integral roles in Washington's six wins. They have allowed only ten goals slip past their line, averaging only 1.12 per match.Β
Wingo to Sit Out UCLA Match
After receiving a red card on Sunday, Sept. 25, junior midfielder Henry Wingo will not play in Washington's match at UCLA. Wingo has played in every match this season (eight), starting in seven, for a total of 616 minutes. He has 18 shots for the season.Β
Leaders of the PACkΒ

Scouting the Competition
The Bruins (4-2-1) are coming off a 0-1 loss to Cal Poly. In their early season match against top ranked Akron, they scored an NCAA record three goals in 32 seconds, taking the win, 6-1. The Bruins are coached by The Huskies have an all-time record of 12-28-3 against the Bruins. The last matchup was in 2015 that resulted in a 2-1 loss for Washington. The Bruins are coached by Jorge Salcedo, who is in his 13th season as head coach.Β
The Aztecs are 5-1-2 for the season and are coming off a 1-0 win over Oregon State. That match was ended by an Aztec golden goal in overtime. Against SDSU, Washington has an all-time record of 15-4-8. The two teams ended in a 1-1 draw last season. The Aztecs are coached by Gene Carswell, who is in his 14th season as head coach.Β
