
Pac-12 Season Begins At Home Against Utah

SEATTLE โ The Washington women's soccer team returns home this weekend to open up conference play as they are set to face Utah this Friday September 23rd at 7 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium.
After dropping two matches this past weekend at Baylor and at SMU, the Huskies (5-3-1) look forward to returning to their home field, where they last played on September 2nd when they defeated Cal Poly 3-0. Junior Shannon Simon leads the attack for UW with four goals this season, scoring two on penalty kicks including a game-winner at Seattle U.
Entering Friday's match with a similar record, Utah (5-2-1) has scored 14 goals in their eight matches, and recorded five shutouts. The Utes checked-in at 23rd in the country in the latest RPI rankings, having won two of their last three, defeating North Dakota State 3-1 and UC Irvine 1-0. They have faced one ranked opponent this season, in-state rival No. 10 BYU, falling 0-2 at home.
Utah is led on offense by sophomore Hailey Skolmoski, who has 14 points in eight games played, scoring six goals and recording two assists with 16 shots on goal. She was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on august 30th, after scoring three goals in two matches the previous weekend. Freshman goalkeeper Carly Nelson has seen the majority of action for the Utes lately, having recorded two shutouts on the season with 12 saves.
The Huskies lead the series against Utah 5-4 all-time, having won three straight contests and are 3-1 against the Utes when playing Seattle, with their last loss coming in 1998.
