Washington senior Troy Rallings was named First Team All-America by Perfect Game/Rawlings, adding to an already impressive list of post-season awards.
Washington senior Troy Rallings was named First Team All-America by Perfect Game/Rawlings, adding to an already impressive list of post-season awards. Rallings, a 22nd-round selection by the Los Angeles Angels, has previously been named first team All-American by Baseball America, D1Baseball, Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger and ABCA/Rawlings.
Rallings was 4-1 with a 0.89 ERA in 61 innings for UW in 2016. He led the nation in WHIP (0.72), was second in ERA and tied for third with 16 saves, totals which all led the Pac-12. He made 28 appearances and led the conference in opposing avg. (.155), fewest hits allowed (32), fewest runs (7) and earned runs allowed (6).
Among Rallings' 16 saves, only one fit the conventions of what a typical closer records – three outs or less. He had eight saves that were four to six outs and six saves that were seven to nine outs.
Washington was 24-4 in games in which Rallings pitched. He helped the Huskies to a 33-23 overall record, second-place finish in the Pac-12 Conference and their second NCAA appearance in three seasons.
