TUCSON, Ariz. – Washington freshman Noah Bremer was named to Louisville Slugger's Freshman All-America team as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Bremer, a right-hander from Berkeley, Calif., wrapped up his first season with the Huskies compiling a 6-3 record and 2.41 ERA. He was named honorable mention All-Pac-12.
His earned run average ranked seventh overall in the Pac-12 and was tops among all freshmen in the Conference, including three others that were named to the All-American team.
He made 16 appearances – 15 starts – and threw 78 1/3 innings. Bremer gave up 69 hits, allowing 29 runs – 21 of which were earned. He struck out 36 and walked 16 batters, holding opponents to a .243 average.
Bremer established himself during his fourth start of the season. He retired the first 19 batters he faced vs. North Dakota and went on to give up one hit and no runs in a 4-1 win on March 1. He earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for his efforts and followed that performance with a no-hitter through seven innings vs. Pepperdine. He combined to throw 18 1/3 straight scoreless innings during that stretch.
Two of Bremer's six wins during the season came against eventual NCAA tournament participants. He held USC to one run over six innings on March 27 in a 5-1 win and beat Oregon 10-4 on April 24.
Bremer is the 17th Husky to earn Freshman All-America recognition. He is the third pitcher to be named to the team -- the first since Tim Lincecum in 2004.
