
Huskies Fall in Final Seconds at Oregon, 78-74

EUGENE , Ore.- Nigel Williams-Goss scored a team-high 19 points to lead four Dawgs in double-figures but the Washington men's basketball team fell in Eugene to Oregon, 78-74, after Joseph Young knocked down the game winner with 23.8 seconds remaining. The Huskies, now 14-8 on the season and 3-7 in conference action, next face Oregon State in Corvallis on Sunday, Feb. 8 (1:30 p.m./Fox Sports 1).
In a very back-and-forth game that featured 11 lead changes and 12 ties, the Huskies shot a season-high 56.6 percent from the field and outscored the Ducks 46-32 in the paint, despite playing with a five-guard lineup for a good chunk of the game.
Oregon took the final lead after Young floated in a driving shot with 23.8 seconds remaining. The Huskies turned the ball over on the ensuing possession then fouled Oregon's Jalil Abdul-Bassit who knocked down two from the FT line to make the final 78-74.
Co-captains Williams-Goss and Andrew Andrews were efficient on the offensive end, combining for 33 points on 15-of-21 shooting from the field while each played at least 38 minutes for the fourth-straight game.
Shawn Kemp, Jr., added 12 points while Darin Johnson scored a season-high 11 off the bench. The Huskies had under 10 turnovers and shot over 50 percent for the second-straight game.
