The honors and high-praise keep rolling in for the Washington's November Signing Day class, this time with three future Huskies landing on Baseball America's High School Top-100 list. Washington joins UCLA and Arizona State as the only Pac-12 programs with three players on the vaunted list.
Ben Baird, a shortstop from Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, Calif., is the highest ranked future Dawg on the list landing at No. 69. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting senior showcased his talents in the 2015 Perfect Game All-American Classic and the Area Code Games for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player at the 2015 National Classic. Baird enters the season as the No. 1 ranked shortstop in California by both Baseball America and Perfect Game and the seventh and 10th overall ranked player from the state, respectively, by the publications.
Christian Jones and Austin Shenton are the only two players from the state of Washington that made Baseball America's top-100 and both are going to be Huskies. Jones, a 6-foot-1, 212-pound first baseman is ranked 79th, while Shenton, a 5-11, 208-pound third baseman is ranked 94th.
Jones, a left-handed hitter from Federal Way High School, was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Game and Area Code Games in 2015. The power-hitting senior is also ranked as the No. 55 overall high school player by Perfect Game and the 156th-ranked 2016 Major League Draft prospect by the same publication.
Shenton is a left-handed power-hitting prospect who plays for Bellingham High School. He competed in the 2015 Area Code Games and had a breakout summer in 2014 for Team Northwest at the USA Baseball National Team Championships.
The three are scheduled to enroll at Washington in the fall of 2016.
