Tucker-Gangnes Scores Twice To Lift Huskies

PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior Dylan Tucker-Gangnes scored twice, including the game-winning, as the No. 25 men's soccer team held on for a 3-2 win vs. Wisconsin on Friday night at the Portland/Nike Invitational in Portland, Ore.
"It was a character win," said head coach Jamie Clark. "We gave away two leads but never hung our heads. We have no time to rest as we have a big game on Sunday."
Washington improves to 3-0 on the year while Wisconsin suffered its first loss of 2012.
UW took an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as sophomore Bradley McIntosh (Redmond, Calif.) headed the ball in off of a corner from freshman James Moberg (Windsor, Calif.).
The Badgers tied the game up just before the half as Ryan Buda scored from the top right corner 30 yards out in the 44th minute.
Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) gave the Huskies the lead back in the 53rd minute on a penalty kick.
Jacob Brindle tied the game for the second time for Wisconsin in the 62nd minute on a double assist off of a corner kick by Jide Oluyedun and Blake Succa.
On yet another set piece, Tucker-Gangnes kicked in the game-winner on a free kick from 23 yards out in the 72nd minute. It was his fourth goal of the season.
"We had opportunities to put them away earlier. It was a scrappy game but in the end we found a way to win," said Tucker-Gangnes. "Our midfield played great fighting for every loose ball and doing the dirty work."
The Huskies took 10 shots compared to seven for Wisconsin.
Junior goalkeeper Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) improved to 3-0-0 on the year making three saves.
Washington will face CSU Bakersfield at noon in Portland on Sunday. CSU Bakersfield fell to Portland in game two Friday night, 2-1.
