UW & SU Team Up For Another Great Cause

SEATTLE - For the second-straight week, the University of Washington and Seattle University women's soccer teams hosted clinics to help raise money for local organizations in the community. Friday, UW hosted a soccer clinic to help raise funds for Brandon's Goal; a non-profit organization to help kids and their families through all of the trials that cancer brings.
The clinic was first followed by a game between the two teams. Players were on hand to teach soccer skills and have a blast.
The game's first goal originated from the foot of Faustine Dufka who served a ball into Lindsay Elston to put the Huskies in the lead late in the first half.
The Redhawks tied the game in the second half with a blast that goalkeeper Kari Davidson got a hand on but was unable to push around the post by mere inches. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, but if you ask fans of Husky Women' Soccer, the Husky Centre Circle members and the kids who helped raise money for such a worthy cause; the day was a complete success.
"Sometimes we get so caught up in the fast pace of everyday life, we forget to take a breath and be thankful for each day we are given. Taking part in Brandon's Goal and paying it forward is something we hope all of our Huskies take with them after graduation," said associate head coach Amy Griffin. "The smiles by participants and coaches that covered the field were the perfect way to honor Brandon Brauns and remind us all there is hope and happiness if you take the time to look."
UW will play its next spring game against the Seattle Sounders Women's team at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila, Wash., May 4.
