STANFORD, Calif. - The Washington women's golf team is tied for second as a team after round one of the Peg Barnard Invitational and Anya Alvarez is second in the individual standings.

"For the first round of the spring it was just okay," said Husky coach Mary Lou Mulflur from Palo Alto. "Honestly, I think we're all a little disappointed. But, we're all within striking distance, so that's good."
Alvarez, a junior from Jenks, Okla., is alone in second after shooting a 72 (+1) on Saturday. Alvarez led the Huskies with three birdies on the day.
Sophomore Sadena Parks (Bethel, Wash.) is the next highest Husky in a tie for sixth after a first round 75 (+4). Karinn Dickinson, who won this tournament as a freshman, is tied for 15 at 6-over 77.
