BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- The Husky women's golf team shot a final round 6-over 294 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev. and moved up two spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for fourth out of 17 teams.
The 6,329-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club played tougher on Wednesday than Tuesday, but Washington was up to the task and tallied the third lowest round of the day. The Huskies tied Louisville at +12 (876) and finished 30 strokes behind Arkansas, who at 18-under 846 was the only team under par for the tournament. Kent State was second at +5, while Arizona finished third at +8.
It's the third time in three events that the Huskies have recorded a top-five finish. The Huskies were second at the fall season-opening Cougar Invitational and third at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
Arkansas' Emily Tubert led from start to finish and won by five strokes over teammate Corinna Rees and Kent State's Martina Gavier. Tubert finished with an 11-under 205.
Three Huskies finished in the top 20, led by senior Anya Alvarez. She was one of six golfers in the field of 93 that was under par on Wednesday, shooting a 1-under 71. Overall, Alvarez fired a 2-under 214 over 54 holes to earn a 10th place finish.
Senior Karinn Dickinson fired her second-consecutive round of 3-over 75 and ended up tied for 14th. She finished at 218 (+2).
Junior Sadena Parks recorded her best round of the three days, joining Alvarez with a 1-under 71. Her final day charge helped her end up tied for 20th at +4 overall (220).
The Huskies' pair of freshmen among the quintet - Kelli Bowers and A Ram Choi - struggled on Wednesday. Bowers shot a 5-over 77 and Choi was 13-over 85 for the round. Bowers ended up 49th, while Choi was 79th.
Junior Darcie Richmond also competed for the Huskies, but as an individual. She fired a final round 76 (+4) and ended up tied for 71st overall at 233.
The Huskies will play in one more fall tournament - the Pac-10/SEC Challenge from Nov. 5-7.
