Men's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight Match

The sixth-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated Hawaii, 6-1, in play this afternoon. The Huskies (13-4, 1-1) have won seven matches in a row, their last loss dating back to Feb. 16.
Washington swept the doubles matches, winning out in all three positions, for only the second time all season. No. 1 duo Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac, currently ranked 49th by the ITA, defeated Aman Singh and Lincoln Leeder, 8-2. Dillon Ruby and Ari Strasberg, playing in the No. 2 slot, won the tie-breaker over Malino Oda and Reggie Moralejo, 9-8. Playing in the final position, Andrej Bizjak and Matt Hanlin took care of Hawaii duo Jorge Gonzalez and Evan Spiegel, 8-3.
With the Huskies leading 1-0, they headed into singles action. Playing at No. 1, Hanlin defeated Singh in two sets, 6-2, 6-4. Strasberg, playing in the No. 6 position, posted a strong 6-1, 6-0 score over Leeder. Posavac lost his first match of the season to Hawaii's Gonzalez in two sets, 6-3, 6-0. He is now 12-1 on the season. Washington also earned victories from Berman, Bizjak, and Marius Lunde.
The Huskies will face No. 37 Arkansas in the second day of play tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. in Oahu, Hawaii.
