SEATTLE - Thalo Green scored 21 points and freshman Curtis Allen added a career-high 18 as the Washington Huskies extended Washington State's Pac-10-record road losing streak to 30 games with a 78-72 victory Saturday.
David Dixon, Washington's 6-foot-11 junior center, also had a career game with 16 points on 7-for-7 shooting. He played 20 minutes, picking up his fourth foul with 10:47 to go with the Huskies ahead 50-48.
Washington (9-12, 3-6 Pac-10) beat Washington State (8-11, 1-8) for the eighth time in nine games.
The Cougars' last win in a Pac-10 road game came Jan. 15, 1998, in Corvallis, Ore., against Oregon State.
Framecio Little led the Cougars with 16 points, while Mike Bush and Jerry McNair each added 14.
Washington led by 13 points at halftime, its biggest halftime advantage of the season, and never trailed in the second half. But WSU made it interesting in the final 10 minutes, closing to within 54-53 on a 3-pointer by McNair with 9:57 to go.
Bush's 15-footer cut Washington's lead to 70-68 with 2:12 on the clock. Then Allen made a 3-pointer and Bryan Brown converted on a steal by Allen for a fastbreak layup and a 75-68 bulge by the Huskies with 1:08 left.
Washington was ahead 38-25 at the end of the first half after scoring the first seven points of the game and then going in front 15-2. The Cougars missed their first eight shots and 10 of their first 11.
WSU pulled to within 21-18 as J Locklier scored on a two-handed dunk and David Adams sank a 15-footer.
But the Huskies outscored the Cougars 14-2 in the next 3 1/2 minutes for a 35-20 lead with Green making a short hook with 3:08 on the clock.
