SEATTLE - Freshman Tyler Davidson's third-inning grand slam was one of four Husky home runs that helped the Washington baseball team beat Washington State, 17-6, Sunday in a Pac-10 game at Husky Ballpark.
Davidson, a right fielder from Edmonds, Wash., gave the Huskies a 6-3 lead with his grand slam, a lead the Dawgs would never lose. Freshman catcher Jefferson Thiel followed Davidson's homer with one of his own and later in the game, freshman DH Jay Garthwaite and senior first baseman Ed Erickson each hit their 10th home runs of the season.
With the win, the Huskies move to within one game of a .500 record at 22-23 overall and 6-11 in the Pac- 10. Washington has won all four meeting this year against WSU and its last six home games. With two wins in the three-game series, the Huskies have assured themselves of their first Pac-10 series victory of the year. The Cougars fell to 16-31 overall adn 6-11 in the league.

Entering the game, Erickson had stolen only four bases (one each season) in his four-year UW career. Davidson went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in and Garthwaite also added three hits. Sophomore center fielder Ben Miller, who had only one previous hit this season, went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
