Former UW football player and track & field athlete Cam Elisara returned to his alma mater as the football program's Director of Player Development in the summer of 2023.
In his new role, Elisara's duties will including the following:
Prior to re-joining the Huskies' program, Elisara worked as a math and physical education teacher at Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash., where he spent the last three seasons as the football team's head coach, as well as the track team's assistant coach. He was named KingCo Coach of the Year in 2023 after leading the Spartans to their best season since 2015. Skyline won the league title and advanced to the state quarterfinals.
Before taking over as head coach at Skyline, Elisara spent 2015-2019 as the track team's head coach and as an assistant coach on the football team. He was named KingCo Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2017.
Elisara earned a bachelor's degree in communications, with a minor in education, from UW, before going on to earn his master's degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership in 2015. During that year, he served as an interim learning specialist for UW's football, women’s basketball, and track and field teams. He also served as the Student-Athlete Development Intern, teaching the Student-Athlete Life Skills course and assisting in the facilitation of career development events.
Before returning to the Seattle area, Elisara spent time working with Teach for America, teaching and coaching in Holly Springs, Miss.
Elisara played defensive line for the Huskies from 2006 through 2010, starting in each of his final three years. He was also a standout thrower on the Husky track team, establishing himself as the team's top shot put performer by his senior year.
In his new role, Elisara's duties will including the following:
- Providing professional development for the football team and facilitate career development opportunities via job shadows and internships.
- Serving as the academic liaison between student-athlete academic services and the football coaching staff.
- Coordinating community outreach and service opportunities in the greater King County area.
- Fostering engagement activities for football alumni.
- Assisting and supporting football student-athletes in initial onboarding, housing, and acclimating to campus.
- Developing and nurturing upperclassmen/newcomer mentorship programs.
