(Cross Country):Β Ran in the top-seven at three meets in the fall β¦ ran at the Pac-12 Championships in Oakland, finishing 70thΒ overall in 25:39 β¦ seventh on the team at the Wisconsin Invitational, in 189th-place overall β¦ also the seventh Husky to finish at the Washington Invite, in 56th-place β¦ finished 18thΒ at the season-opening Sundodger Invite, seventh among Huskies in uniform.
2013-14 (Track):Β Competed in a full indoor season before redshirting the outdoor season β¦ ran at the MPSF Championships indoors, finishing 26thΒ in the 5,000-meters and 33rdΒ in the 3,000-meters β¦ ran a big season-best of 8:16.88 in the 3k at the Husky Classic, finishing 17thΒ β¦ opened the track season with a mile run at the UW Indoor Preview in 4:12.80 β¦ competed twice unattached outdoors β¦ ran 4:01.91 for 1,500-meters at the Washington Open, and ran a 10k at the Ken Shannon Invite in 31:41.27 ...Β (Cross Country):Β Had one of the best performances of the fall at the Pac-12 Championships, not only running in the top-five for the first time, but finishing second on the squad and 25thΒ overall in Colorado β¦ dealt with illness during the fall β¦ opened the season with a 21st-place finish at the Sundodger Invite, the sixth Husky finisher β¦ was 35thΒ at the Bill Dellinger Invite at Oregon, eighth on the squad β¦ also was 224thΒ overall and ninth on the team at the Wisconsin Invitational β¦ started at NCAA West Regionals but was unable to finish.
2012-13 (At Portland) (Track):Β Competed just twice during his first outdoor track season, running the 5,000-meters at the Mt. SAC Relays in 14:46.02, and running the 1,500m at the Willamette Invite in 4:06.40 β¦Β (Cross Country):Β Outstanding first collegiate cross country season as he was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year β¦ was Portlandβs No. 5 scorer at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, placing 149thΒ overall in 31:06 for the 10k course β¦ the top freshman, in 20th-place overall, at the WCC Championships, crossing the line in 24:36, the No. 7 Pilot across β¦ took 82ndΒ overall as Portlandβs No. 7 runner at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Seattle, helping Portland to the team title β¦ the No. 3 Pilot finisher at the adidas Wisconsin Invitational, clocking 24:15 to finish 92ndΒ overall β¦ took eighth competing unattached at the West Coast Conference Preview in Portland in 23:32.
High School and Personal:Β Born in Wenatchee, Wash. β¦ parents are Tamera and Michael Smith β¦ his father was a two-time cross country All-American at Division-II school Mankato State University in Minnesota β¦ the 2011 Washington 4A State Cross Country Champion, winning in a time of 15:03 β¦ also was sixth at the 2010 state cross country meet β¦ won the 2011 USA Junior Olympic national title at 3,000-meters by 15 seconds, running 8:41.25 β¦ finished 17thΒ at the 2011 USA Junior Cross Country Championships in San Diego β¦ ran at the 2010 Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, placing 24thΒ overall after finishing sixth in the Northwest Regional race β¦ earned Columbia Basin Big Nine Runner of the Year honors in 2011 β¦ capped his senior track season with two top-three finishes at 4A state, finishing second in the 3,200-meters in a PR of 9:01.96, and running a 1,600-meters PR of 4:10.40 to finish third β¦ as a junior in 2011, finished fourth at state in the 3,200-meters in 9:07.41.
