Excited, motivated, progressing, and energetic are only a few words among the many positive thoughts that cross my mind when thinking about our team right now!!
Many know that last year was a struggle for us but that has not got the Gymdawgs down in any respect. The rough past is behind all of us now and everybody is putting their blood, sweat, and tears into the bright future that is quickly approaching.
The atmosphere in the gym has increased so much that occasionally my train of thought is rattled due to the cheering of the team rejoicing in the success of another teammate's great accomplishment. Not only has the attitude in the gym increased but each individual athlete's standards have raised as well - we as a team share a common goal: consistency. In order to obtain that goal we have to put in a lot of hard work and dedication if we want this to be a great season. Naturally, as a senior, I am a leader and I plan on helping lead this team to victory all the way to Nationals.
Our new coaching staff - Joanne, David, and Shanna - are more than a team could ever ask for! They come in the gym everyday with a smile on their face ready to coach each athlete to the best of their ability. Their positive attitudes are contagious, which allows the team to be positive as well. I think I speak for the whole team when I say that I am so grateful for these coaches and their motivating personalities.
I'm so excited to compete my final season here at UW, as my life as a Husky comes to an end. This chapter in my life will soon come to a close and I will be off into the real world, accomplishing bigger and better things. I'd better not get too excited though - we haven't even started competing yet!
Get ready fans, it is going to be an amazing season! As Joanne would say, "We are going to hit the ground running!"
