Meggs, Cimber, Gardner-Young Earn Academic Pac-10 Honors

UW Recruits Stephenson & Matsui Win Gatorade State Player of the Year Honors
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Three UW baseball players, led by first-team selection Joe Meggs, were named to the Pac-10's All-Academic team today. Adam Cimber and Brendan Gardner-Young both were named to the second team.
Meggs, a redshirt sophomore from Terra Haute, Ind., was the Huskies' regular starting left fielder and leading hitter in 2011. In the classroom, he boasts a 3.47 grade point average, majoring in economics.
Cimber, a sophomore pitcher from Edgewood, Wash., made 23 appearances out of the bullpen for the Huskies this year, compiling a 3.16 earned run average, four victories and two saves. He has compiled a 3.42 GPA in history.
Gardner-Young, a senior from Normandy Park, Wash., played center field for the Huskies, starting 27 games, including 19 in Pac-10 play. An honorable mention Academic All-Pac-10 selection in 2009, he has a 3.20 grade point average in informatics.
