GymDawgs Journal

This is the beginning of a new life for me! These first few weeks as a freshman have been exciting but overwhelming. I am just now getting used to my new home at the dorms, my new classes, the equipment at the gym, and my new schedule as a student-athlete at the UW.
The first week I was here was our team-bonding week. We had our first week of practice and ended with team activities every day. We had team dinners, rode the Duck (the famous Seattle boat/bus tour), and enjoyed a team bbq at Coach Joanne's house where we discussed team goals for this year's academics and gymnastics. This was a really fun week and getting to know the girls was awesome!
I am so excited for the season! Everyone in the gym has such a positive attitude, which will create a great environment for us to meet our goals. Plus, I am not used to having such a big team after coming form a smaller gymnastics club in Seattle. Throughout the last five years, I have been the only level 10 at my gym, meaning I had to compete alone in meets. One of the main reasons that I am looking forward to UW gymnastics is because I will have a large group of girls that understand what I go through and share their dedication and motivation with me. This is because I have not experienced the team part of gymnastics for quite some time. I already feel like I am part of a family and I absolutely love all of the girls! They all work extremely hard in the gym and inspire me to work hard as well. I can already tell that I am going to have loads of fun with my new teammates and that we are going to ROCK this season!!!
GO GYMDAWGS!!
