
Washington Splits Friday at Longhorn Showdown

AUSTIN, TEXAS – No. 19 Washington beach volleyball wrapped up its weekend at the Longhorn Showdown with a win over Houston Christian and losses to Tulane and No. 3 Texas, while its remaining Saturday match wAS canceled due to weather.
Washington opened the weekend Friday with a dominant 5–0 sweep over Houston Christian. The Huskies picked up straight-set wins on four of five courts, with Emma Hohenauer and Katarina Pantovic leading the way on court one. Avery Towne and Alina Urzua secured the first point on court five, followed by Mayamay Brown and Zoe Pabarcus on court four. Ella Tyus and Sarah Wilcock added another win on court three, while Niki Egan and Mariana Tomasova battled to a three-set victory on court two to complete the sweep.
Later in the day, the Huskies faced Tulane but fell 4–1. Tulane gained early momentum with wins on courts four and five before adding victories on courts one and two to clinch the dual. Washington's lone point came from Tyus and Wilcock on court three, who earned a straight-set victory.
Washington closed Friday against No. 3 Texas, where the Longhorns secured a 5–0 victory. Texas claimed wins across all five courts, including a three-set battle on court one to highlight the dual.
The Huskies were scheduled to continue play Saturday, but all remaining matches were canceled due to weather.
