Huskies To Host Seattle U In Home Opener

SEATTLE – After four weekends competing on the road, the No. 24 Washington softball team (15-6, 0-0 Big Ten) will open its home season with four games this week.
The home week for the Huskies begins Tuesday night, a matchup with crosstown foe Seattle U at Husky Softball Stadium. Washington will then stay home this weekend, kicking off Big Ten play with a three-game series against Northwestern March 6-8.
All four UW games this week can be streamed on Big Ten Plus. Cameron Smythe will call play-by-play and Brooke Nelson will provide color commentary for UW's home opener.

- The Huskies enter opening weekend at home with a 15-6 record, including five victories last weekend in San Diego.
- Washington played five games at the University of San Diego and run ruled all five, defeating Cal Poly twice, San Diego State twice and CSUN.
- Washington outscored its opponents 53-7, including two shutouts in both games against Cal Poly.
- Two weekends ago, at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., the Huskies went 3-3, winning games over Saint Mary's, Auburn and BYU
- The Huskies dropped to 1-5 against ranked opponents, falling to No. 22 South Carolina and No. 4 Oklahoma while in Palm Springs
- After going 2-3 opening weekend, including a ranked win over then-No. 9 Nebraska, the Huskies added five more games to the win column (Feb. 13-15)
- UW swept a three-game series at Fresno State and defeated San Jose State (6-1) and Santa Clara (13-0)
- Morgan Reimer is ranked No. 26 in Softball America's in-season position rankings (pitcher)
- Jadyn Glab is ranked No. 9 in Softball America's in-season position rankings (catcher)
- Alexis DeBoer is ranked No. 4 in Softball America's in-season position rankings (first base)
- Morgan Reimer is 9-1 on the season, most recently earning a win over Cal Poly where she dished out a three-pitch inning
- Alexis DeBoer ranks in the Top-10 in the Big Ten in slugging percentage (9th, .964) and is tied for eighth in total bases with 54
- The sophomore is second in the league in walks (21) and tied for fourth with nine home runs
- Giselle Alvarez, Alexis DeBoer and Ava Carroll are the three Huskies who have started in all 16 games to start the season
- The trio lead the team in hits, led by Carroll with 25, DeBoer with 23 (and a team-high 22 RBI) and Alvarez with 20
- Five other Huskies have notched double digit hits through 21 games, including Jadyn Glab (19), Kaycie Burdick (16), Jade Bubke (13), and Sophi Mazzola and Ally Hetzel each with 10
- Washington is No. 24 in the USA Softball/ESPN.com rankings (as of Feb. 23 – week three rankings) and No. 25 in Softball America's most current ranking
- Washington was ranked in the Top-25 in three of the four preseason polls.

- Eight Huskies made their debuts during opening weekend at UTSA – sophomore transfer Ryan Maddox and freshmen Kaycie Burdick, Mila Reddy, Marley Teasley, Amira Rodriguez, Allie Thomsen, Ally Hetzel and Zuri Patterson
- Ally Hetzel recorded her first career home run, a three-run homer in UW's 17-0 win over UTSA, as well as three RBI last weekend
- Teasley played and started in all five games, batting .333 with four hits on the weekend
- Burdick saw action in four games and got one start, registering two hits and four RBI on the weekend
- Reddy scored a run and saw action in three games
- Ryan Maddox, Amira Rodriguez and Allie Thomsen all saw action in the circle during opening weekend
- Maddox pitched an inning against UTSA and 2.1 innings in Washington's loss to No. 1 Texas (Feb. 7)
- Rodriguez, Maddox and Thomsen each pitched in the Huskies' second matchup with Texas
- During opening weekend in San Antonio, the Huskies earned their first Top-10 win of the season, thanks to a walk-off single from Jadyn Glab to win it 3-2 over No. 9 Nebraska
- It was Washington's first Top-10 win since defeating No. 8 Oregon 4-3 on March 16, 2025
- Washington went 2-3 at the UTSA Invitational, picking up a 17-0 win over UTSA and a walk-off 3-2 win over No. 9 Nebraska
- The Huskies lost their opening game to the Huskers 5-8 and dropped both to top-ranked Texas by scores of 6-11 and 0-5
- Alexis DeBoer hit a .462 average in the opening five games of the season, while also recording a 1.231 slugging percentage and .611 on-base percentage. She scored three home runs and 4 RBI while notching a perfect fielding percentage at first base
- Ava Carroll had a strong opening weekend for Washington as well, batting .438 with five runs and seven hits in a team-high 16 at-bats
- Giselle Alvarez hit .267 opening weekend, registering five runs, four hits and five RBI while playing primarily at third base for the Huskies
- Gabi Toney hit two dingers in the opening game of the season against No. 9 Nebraska, her second and third career home runs. On the weekend, Toney played in all five games and started in four, scoring four runs and four RBI
- Dating back to 2014, the Huskies are 52-11 during opening weekend.
- In 2025, Washington went 2-3 at the Candrea Classic in Tucson, Ariz. In 2024, UW went 3-1 in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone coming against the Oklahoma Sooners in extra innings.
- In 2023, UW also went 3-1 with their lone loss coming against the Sooners, 4-5.
