Huskies Impress in Day Two of Pepperdine Challenge, Start Season 3-1

MALIBU, Calif – The Washington Beach Volleyball team earned an impressive set of victories this morning with a 4-1 match against Pepperdine and a suffered close 3-2 loss over fellow ranked squad Long Beach State in this weekend's Pepperdine Challenge from Malibu, CA.
Washington made light work in the rematch from yesterday's 4-3 win over the Waves as the Dawgs never trailed in the second matchup, with Alina Urzua and Avery Towne clinching the match in their third set win over Pepperdine's Bubelis and Woodruffe, while Katarina Pantovic and Niki Egan wrapped up a win of their own. The Husky duos of Mayamay Brown and Zoe Pabarcus & Sarah Wilcock and Ella Tyus, also contributed to the victory over Pepperdine with solid showings of their own.
In the second match of the day, the Huskies faced fellow ranked side, No. 10 Long Beach State. The tightly contested match was a back-and-forth affair, with the Huskies taking the early lead with a 1-0 lead from Sarah Wilcock and Ella Tyus's match against Starling/Pecile. The Dawgs would then go to drop three in a row late in their sets with the clinching point going deep in the third. Sarah Wilcock and Ella Tyus would go on to win the final point, giving the match its final score of 3-2.

The Huskies continue play next week in the Tiger Beach Challenge. As the Huskies are scheduled to take on the University of Alabama-Birmingham and the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Friday, February 27th at 7:15 am and 12:15 am PT/, respectively.
