Purohit Named to B1G Player to Watch List
January 09, 2026 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE- University of Washington's Soham Purohit was named to the 2026 Big Ten Men's Tennis Players to Watch list Friday afternoon. He is one of 14 players selected across the Big Ten.Β
In a stand-out Fall Season where he won the ITA Northwest Regional, the first Husky since 2002 to do so, Soham joins Ceasar Bochelaghem (2025) as the only HuskiesΒ to be named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list. By winning the ITA Northwest Regional, Purohit qualified for and competed in this past NCAA Singles Championship, where he fell in the first round.Β
In his first season on Montake, Soham was a mainstay in the starting six at No. 3, going 21-8 on the year in Singles play, helping the team finish the year ranked 37th in the land, leading to a qualifying berth inΒ the NCAA Team Championships. Soham was equally impressive in Doubles as he went 8-7 from the No. 2 with his playing partner Ivan Suko. With multiple come-from-behind wins last Spring, along with multiple close matches against other top 100-ranked players, including a ranked win over the 93rd-ranked player, Giulio Perego of Texas A&M, Soham and the Huskies are primed to succeed in 2026.Β
Purohit and the Huskies will be back in action Saturday, January 10 vs Hawai'i at the UH Tennis Complex in Honolulu.Β
