
Gymnastics Falls to Arizona At First Away Meet

TUCSON, AZ – Strong performances from Chelsea Hallinan and Kristin Lin highlighted the day for Washington, but the GymDawgs fell short in Arizona's home opener, scoring 194.650 against Arizona 195.425.
Washington opened the meet on bars, led by senior Lilly Tubbs and graduate student Deiah Moody, who each earned a 9.725 to tie for third, marking a season high for Tubbs. Senior Olivia Oppegard followed with a 9.675, and the GymDawgs closed the rotation with a 48.400.
Washington entered the second rotation with a 48.675 on vault. Junior Kira Bolden recorded a season-high 9.800 to finish second overall. Jessica Schaffer and Lilly Tubbs each earned 9.750, marking a career high for Schaffer and a season high for Tubbs. The GymDawgs closed the second rotation with a 48.675.
Floor proved to be Washington's second-strongest event of the afternoon, earning a 48.775. Arizona native's freshmen Haley Fichiera and Jessica Schaffer made their second appearances in the floor lineup. Fichiera and senior Caitlin McWilliams led the rotation with matching 9.825 scores, while Lin earned 9.750.
The GymDawgs' strongest event came on beam, where they posted 48.800 to outperform Arizona's beam squad. Hallinan secured the event title, matching her career-high 9.900. Lin also matched her career high with a 9.825 to place third, while Tubbs earned 9.775.
