
No. 23 Washington Defeats Portland, 6-1

SEATTLE – No. 23 Washington women's tennis improves to 3-0 following a 6-1 victory over Portland on Saturday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
UW moves to 35-0 all-time against the Pilots.
Playing for the first time in the No. 1 doubles spot, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim cruised to a 6-0 victory. Teaming up for the first time in doubles, Erika Matsuda and Zehra Suko followed closely behind to secure the 1-0 lead for the Dawgs with a 6-2 win.
In singles, Weissheim put the second Washington point on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the five spot. Jermine Sherif added the third point with a 6-0, 6-3 win on Court No. 4.
No. 43 Reece Carter clinched the match on Court No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
No. 66 Erika Matsuda put up a battle on Court No. 1 and fought to a tiebreak victory 6-7(5), 6-3 [10-7]. It was Matsuda's first dual match of the season to go to a tiebreak.
Portland's Meagan Pearson won her match on Court No. 6 against Suko in a tiebreak, 6-4, 4-6 [10-8].
