
Huskies Head To ITA All-American Championships

SEATTLE – Six members of the Washington women's tennis team travel to Cary, North Carolina for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships beginning on Saturday, Sept. 20 to open the fall season.
Reece Carter, Erika Matsuda, Jermine Sherif, Marie Weissheim, Alexia Jacobs and Carina Syrtveit will represent the Dawgs.
The tournament serves as the first qualifier for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Ten singles players and four doubles teams will qualify for NCAAs held November 18-23 in Orlando, Florida.
Sherif, Weissheim, Jacobs and Syrtveit open on Saturday in the singles pre-qualifier round. Carter and Matsuda will start off in the qualifying draw beginning on Monday.
Teaming up in doubles are Jacobs/Weissheim (main draw), Matsuda/Syrtveit (pre-qualifying) and Carter/Sherif (pre-qualifying).
In the ITA preseason rankings, the Huskies have three ranked in singles with No. 68 Carter, No. 98 Karolina Kozakova and No. 96 Matsuda. In doubles Jacobs and Weissheim are ranked No. 24 while Matusda and Syrtveit are ranked No. 64.
