Huskies Draw 1-1 With UC Davis In Home Opener
August 28, 2025 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE – Washington battled to a 1-1 draw with UC Davis in the first action at Husky Soccer Stadium of the 2025 campaign.
The tie is the first result for the Huskies this season, who move to 0-2-1.
1,706 people were in the building for the Thursday night match, the largest crowd for a Washington men's soccer season opener since at least 2021. Husky alumnus and current Seattle Sounder Kalani Kossa-Rienzi was in attendance for the home-opening match as well.
The fans were in for a hard-fought match, and each team brought the energy to the pitch. Through 45 minutes, nothing separated the two sides.
10 minutes after the restart, UC Davis fired off a shot that was saved by Jadon Bowton, but the Huskies were unable to clear the ball. The Aggies found the rebound and were able to score and take a 1-0 lead with 35 minutes left to play.
Washington pushed for the equalizer and was rewarded in the 76th minute. Egor Akulov pushed the ball up the field to Zach Ramsey who laid off a perfect ball to Charlie Kosakoff. After getting past the goalkeeper, the Husky No. 9 hit a tight angle shot to bring the Huskies level.
It's Kosakoff's first goal of the season and the seventh of his career. Akulov earned his first career assist on the play and Ramsey contributed his first point of the season.
For the remaining 14 minutes, Washington pressed harder for a second goal. The Huskies had seven corner kicks in the final nine minutes of the match, but couldn't find the winner.
Washington returns to action on Sunday night, taking on UNLV at 7:30 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium.
