GOLD CANYON, Ariz. – Vivian Lu closed out her final round at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional on Wednesday, finishing the round with a two-over par to end the tournament at five-over and tied for 20th overall.
Competing as an individual for Washington, Lu opened the week with an even-par 72 in Monday's first round, she followed with a three-over par in Tuesday's second round, which featured an eagle and two birdies despite a tough stretch on the front nine. In today's final round, Lu played steady golf with one birdie and one bogey on the front nine, carding even par before dropping two shots late on the back nine to close with a 74. Lu finished tied for 20th out of a 77-player field and will not advance to the next stage of postseason play.
"It was a tough week for a tough person," said Head Coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "She felt worse as the week went on but as usual with Viv, there is no quit in her whatsoever. I could not be prouder for my last walk up 18 to be with someone like Vivian Lu. She is everything that is good about Washington and Husky golf. Her future is bright."
Lu's performance marks the end of Washington's season and the close of Coach Mulflur's 42-year career coaching Husky golf.
