SEATTLE - The Huskies will head to Columbus, Ohio this week to take part in their first ever Big Ten Championship Tournament.
The Huskies finished out their regular season with a 8-5 record in Big Ten play and a 16-7 overall record putting them in a good spot for the tournament.
The Huskies head into the tournament as the fourth seed. This means they get a bye for the first day of the tournament on Thursday. They will advance straight to the Quarterfinal round of the tournament to be played out on Friday. Their first match of the weekend will be on Friday at 8:00 a.m. PDT. They will take on the fifth seed Nebraska.
Earlier in the season, Washington took down Nebraska in a close 4-3 win at home.
The winner of this match will go on to play in the semifinals round on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
Possible opponents in the semifinals round will depend on how a couple of matches shake out earlier in the tournament on Thursday. The winner of No. 9 Oregon and No. 8 Illinois will go on to play No. 1 Ohio State on Friday. The winner of this match will then go on to the semifinals and play in the 11:00 a.m. slot.
