Washington Wins Queen’s Cup

HONOLULU – The No. 17 Washington beach volleyball team claimed the Queen's Cup Tournament title with a 5-0 sweep of San Francisco on Saturday at Queen's Beach. The Huskies' dominant performance earned them the team championship, while Emma Hohenauer and Sarah Wilcock were named the tournament's Most Outstanding Pair.
Washington carried momentum from victories over No. 15 Hawai'i and Saint Mary's into its final match against San Francisco, delivering a commanding performance to secure its fourth win of the weekend. The Huskies won all five matches, with only one court going to three sets.
On court one, Teila Allen and Jade Sadeiko controlled their matchup, winning 21-17, 21-14. Katarina Pantovic and Lauren Wilcock followed with another straight-set victory on court two, 21-14, 21-18. Brooke Balue and Niki Egan were pushed to three sets on court three but responded with a strong third-set performance to win 21-9, 18-21, 15-8. Hohenauer and Wilcock, later named the tournament's Most Outstanding Pair, added another victory on court four, 21-14, 21-18. On court five, Ella Wimmer and Karolina Majernikova made their first appearances in the lineup this season, closing out the match with a 21-14, 21-14 win.
With the Queen's Cup title secured, Washington finished the weekend 4-1, improving to 7-6 overall on the season.
