
Beach Dawgs Sweep Doubleheader Against UC Davis And San Jose State

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. โ The 17th-ranked Washington beach volleyball team put together a dominant performance Saturday, sweeping its doubleheader at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex. The Beach Dawgs opened the day with a 4-1 victory over UC Davis before closing it out with a 5-0 sweep of San Jose State, improving to 9-6 on the season.
In the first match against UC Davis, the Aggies struck first with a win at the No. 4 spot, but Washington quickly responded. Emma Hohenauer and Sarah Wilcock evened the score with a dominant 21-15, 21-12 victory on court three. Katarina Pantovic and Niki Egan kept the momentum going at No. 2, claiming a 21-19, 21-14 win, while Hannah Doyle and Alina Urzua sealed the match for the Dawgs at No. 5 with a hard-fought 21-18, 21-19 victory. Teila Allen and Jade Sadeiko capped things off in a thrilling three-set battle on court one, rallying for an 18-21, 21-19, 15-9 win to give Washington its fourth point.
The Beach Dawgs carried their momentum into the afternoon against San Jose State, sweeping the Spartans to wrap up the day. Doyle and Urzua struck first at No. 5, cruising to a 21-15, 21-11 victory to give Washington an early lead. Balue and Wimmer followed up with a win at No. 3, 21-12, 21-17, before Allen and Sadeiko stayed steady on court one, clinching the match with a 21-14, 21-18 victory. Pantovic and Egan added a win on court two, 21-16, 21-18, and S. Wilcock and Hohenauer closed out the sweep with another gritty three-set victory on Court 4, 21-13, 16-21, 15-7.
