
UW Wraps Up Southern Highlands Collegiate In 14th

LAS VEGAS βΒ The Washington men's golf team posted its best score of the week at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Tuesday, tallying a cumulative 294 en route to a 14th place finish.

The Huskies improved their score each day over the three rounds in the desert, but facing a loaded field were unable to climb the leaderboard.

Drew Warford led the Dawgs on Tuesday, posting UW's first red number of the week with a one-under 71. The senior finished the weekend tied for 47th at 10-over.

Freshman Jake Foley led Washington for the week, placing tied for 34th at two-over after carding a 74.

"Good week from Jake, who played really solid," Murray said. Drew had solid second and third rounds after a tough opening day."

Fellow freshman Jack Murphy also posted a 74, one shot ahead of Finn Koelle's 75 for round three. Koelle finished the tournament tied for 61st, while Murphy came in tied for 71st. Abel Derksen closed the tournament at 18-over, finishing 82nd.

"Finn will be disappointed with his week as will Jack, Murray said. "We need both those guys playing well if we are to play to our potential."

The Huskies will return to action March 24-25 at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, followed immediately by the Stanford hosted The Goodwin.

"The big ten championship is what our season comes down to and we have a lot of improving to do."
