Huskies Conclude Second Round Of The Goodwin
March 28, 2025 | Men's Golf
PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Washington men's golf team concluded the second day of The Goodwin in 12th place with one more round to play tomorrow at Stanford Golf Course.
The Huskies were led by Jack Murphy and Jake Foley, both in a tie for 35th on the player leaderboard (+2).
Amilkar Bhana improved from a +4 performance in round one to -1 today as he recorded four birdies on the day, his first under-par round as a Dawg.
Washington as a team also jumped from day one to day two of the tournament, shooting one-under par Friday.
Jake Foley and Drew Warford each recorded an eagle, with Foley notching it on the seventh hole and Warford on the 16th.
"Really good day for the guys," said head coach Alan Murray. "That was our best round of the year and I am really proud of the guys. We have been beat up this year and battled constantly. It was nice to see the guys play well and grind through the adversity we faced today … to have an under-par team round in tough conditions was really pleasing.
"Our 3 freshmen all had under par rounds and they had birdies late in the round to get those under par rounds which can be a real shot of confidence for them.
"The work they have been doing is starting to bear fruit. Drew was really gritty today and set the tone… scrapping out that 72 was big for us …. Amilkar played his best college round and his first under par score as a Husky.
Jake Foley got off to a slow start and just keep grinding and hung in there all day before making a clutch eagle on his 16th hole which was number 7. Finn had a tough day, but he will bounce back tomorrow I am sure. We talked about having a good round today and see what we can do with some good momentum. We got what we wanted and now it's exciting to see how we can perform tomorrow."
The Dawgs return to Stanford Golf Course for the final round of The Goodwin on Saturday.
Round 3 tee times are not available yet.
