Huskies Battle To 1-1 Start At ASU/GCU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 19 Washington beach volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday, securing a narrow 3-2 victory over UAB before falling 1-4 to No. 12 Arizona State at the ASU/GCU Invitational.

Against UAB, the Huskies (8-6) battled to a hard-fought win, clinching three of the five flights. Katarina Pantovic and Niki Egan secured a straight-set victory on court two, while Emma Hohenauer and Sarah Wilcock dominated on court four. Hannah Doyle and Karolina Majernikova sealed the match for Washington with a 21-11, 21-19 win at the No. 5 spot.

In the second match of the day, Washington faced a tough Arizona State squad, falling 1-4. The lone victory came at the No. 5 flight, where Majernikova and Alina Urzua outlasted the Sun Devils in three sets.
