Washington Women’s Soccer Ends Season With Historic No. 6 National Ranking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches released the final coaches poll of 2025 on Tuesday, with Washington ending its historic season ranked No. 6 in the nation, the highest final ranking in program history.
UW's previous high finish in the United Soccer Coaches Poll (previously NSCAA) was No. 10 following the Huskies' Elite 8 run in 2004.
The Dawgs were also slotted at No. 5 in the final TopDrawerSoccer.com Top-25, the highest ranked team outside of this season's NCAA College Cup participants. Washington capped the 2025 campaign with a 6-1-2 record against ranked opponents.
"This team has been all-in from day one, and the final rankings reflect what they poured into the season and how much they grew along the way," head coach Nicole Van Dyke said. "We are so proud of these women."
Washington earned its place among the nation's elite after proving doubters wrong all season long. Picked to finish ninth in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll, the Huskies claimed the league's regular season championship with a 9-1-2 record, capturing UW's first conference championship in 25 years.
Two weeks later, the Dawgs confirmed themselves as the Big Ten's best by winning the 2025 Big Ten Tournament Championship with a penalty shootout victory over Michigan State, who finished ranked No. 7 in the final coaches poll.
Despite completing the Big Ten double, Washington entered the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 13 per the United Soccer Coaches.
Undeterred, UW put together a postseason run with wins over Montana and No. 4 Arkansas before topping No. 7 Virginia via penalties on the Cavaliers' home pitch, reaching the Elite Eight for the third time in program history.
"Team 35 set the standard every day and represented Washington with pride and purpose." Van Dyke concluded. "We'll use this as a springboard to keep building forward."
