Suliafu, Buck Make History As UW’s First All-America Pair
December 05, 2025 | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in the history of the Washington women's soccer program, multiple players have been named All-Americans in the same season as Kolo Suliafu and Alex Buck both received the prestigious distinction from the United Soccer Coaches.
The pair become the fifth and sixth Huskies to earn All-America honors, joining Melanie Brennan (1993), Hope Solo (2000, 2001), Tina Frimpong (2004) and Summer Yates (2020).
Washington's five all-region honorees are a new program record, topping the four all-region selections in 2000 when Hope Solo, Andrea Morelli, Theresa Wagner and Caroline Putz all received the distinction.
Suliafu caps her heralded UW career with the nation's top honor, also garnering Big Ten Defender of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-North Region laurels in 2025. The SoCal centerback reeled in Second Team All-America honors after posting 11 of her 24 career clean sheets, helping UW set a new program shutout record in 2025.
Suliafu was twice named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week in 2025, first after holding No. 15 USC's powerful offense to six shots, helping UW lock up its first win over the Trojans since 2019. The Ontario, California, native was also tabbed POTW after leading UW to back-to-back 1-0 road wins at No. 22 Ohio State and Penn State.
While Suliafu's celebrated career in Purple and Gold is at its close, Buck's collegiate career is still in its early stages, garnering Fourth Team All-America plaudits as a sophomore after earning First Team All-Big Ten and All-North Region nods.
The 5-11 striker saved all of her scoring punch for when it mattered most. Buck scored nine times from the start of league play, tied for the most in the Big Ten. The Medina, Washington, native finished the season tied for third in the Big Ten in points (23) and tied for third in goals (9).
Like Suliafu, Buck was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week twice. The forward with endless pace bagged her first nod after delivering the lone goal in UW's road win at USC. Buck also earned the honor after scoring in wins over Minnesota and No. 15 Wisconsin to clinch Washington's first conference championship in 25 years.
Buck kept her hot scoring into postseason play, scoring all three of UW's goals in the Huskies' first and second round wins over Montana and No. 4 Arkansas.
