HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Washington opened play at the AVCA Pairs Championship on Friday, finishing 2-2 overall in the 64-pair bracket. Each Husky pair went 1-1 on the day.
Teila Allen and Emma Hohenauer started strong with a 2-0 win over UNF's Espy/Murray before falling in a close three-set match to LMU's Pelloia/Rabitsch in the next round.
Washington's second pair, Ella Tyus and Zoe Pabarcus, dropped their opening match to UAB's Haas/Stant but rebounded with a three-set victory against Southern Mississippi's Dennis/Michalska.

The two pairs return to action Saturday, Nov. 8. Allen and Hohenauer open the 17th-place bracket at 6 a.m. PT against Stetson's Carro/Ozaeta, while Tyus and Pabarcus continue play in the 33rd-place bracket at 8:30 a.m. PT against Tampa's Wolfe/Wolfe.
