Buck Brings Home Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week For Second Time
October 21, 2025 | Women's Soccer
ROSEMONT, Ill. – After scoring a goal in each of Washington's matches during the Huskies Big Ten Title sealing week, sophomore forward Alex Buck has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
It is the second weekly award of the season for Buck, who also garnered the weekly nod after scoring the match-winner in UW's road victory over No. 15 USC on Sept. 11.
The two tallies brings the Medina, Washington, native's season total to five goals, three of which have been match winners. Buck ranks second on the team with 14 total points.
Buck wasted no time getting the week started, scoring just 43 seconds into Thursday's match against Minnesota. Despite the early lead, the Huskies had to fight back late to secure a 3-2 win over the Golden Gophers.
The win setup a championship opportunity on Sunday as the 17th-ranked Huskies took on No. 15 Wisconsin at Husky Soccer Stadium, with a win guaranteeing Washington's first conference title in 25 years.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Buck drew a foul inside the 18-yard box, with the referee pointing to the spot and confirming the penalty on VAR. The sophomore striker took the ball herself, beating Wisconsin's Drew Stover to the left corner of goal to put the Dawgs ahead.
Washington was able to kill off the final 37:58 of the match, delivering the 2025 Big Ten Regular Season Championship to Montlake.
Buck and the Huskies hit the road to close out the regular season, facing Oregon in Eugene at noon on Sunday, Oct. 26. The match has been picked up for airing live on the Big Ten Network.
