
Cross Country Gears Up For Loyola Lakefront Invite

SEATTLE – The Husky cross country teams are ready to line up for their first true test of the season on Friday morning in Chicago, as strong fields come together at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
 
The meet goes off at 7 a.m. Pacific time Friday morning, starting with the women's 6k, and the men's 8k starts at 7:40 a.m. Teams will race around the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Chicago's north side.
 
Washington's season so far has consisted of a home dual race with Seattle U. at Magnuson Park back on Sept. 2. After that the teams embarked for Suncadia Resort in the Cascades for a big training block. Friday will give coaches Andy and Maurica Powell a look at where UW stacks up in the early season, with plenty of miles to run before the goal of the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22.
 
The Huskies go into Friday morning's race ranked No. 11 on the women's side and No. 24 on the men's side.
 
The women are expected to run a group that includes Ella Borsheim, Mia Cochran, Julia David-Smith, Chloe Foerster, Brianna McInnis, Isabel Olson, Maeve Stiles, Jenica Swartz, Sam Tran, and Josephine Welin.
 
The men are bringing a smaller group comprised of Isaac Briggs, Cruize Corvin, Thom Diamond, Jamar Distel, Parker Mong, and Reuben Reina.
