
Hansen Parker Era Begins As GymDawgs Open 2025 Season

SEATTLE – The 2025 season is officially underway as the Washington gymnastics team wrapped up the UW Quad Meet in front of an electric crowd at Alaska Airlines Arena on Friday night.
In Jessa Hansen Parker's debut as head coach, the GymDawgs posted a score of 194.800, finishing third. Stanford won the meet with a 195.600, followed by Boise State with a 195.050. UC Davis rounded out the competition with a 193.375.
Washington opened on vault, scoring a 48.475. Senior Lana Navarro led the team with a 9.775, followed by sophomore Mary McDonough, who earned a 9.750. Freshman Lex Mouyenga made her collegiate debut, scoring a 9.650. Caitlin McWilliams appeared in the vault lineup for the first time, recieving a 9.600. Kira Bolden also made her first appearance in the lineup, after missing majority of her freshmen year due to injury.
The GymDawgs moved to bars, where they scored a 48.650. McDonough and graduate student Taylor Russon both delivered strong performances, each earning a 9.800. Navarro and McWilliams made their collegiate debut on bars, with Navarro scoring an impressive 9.725.
Despite a couple of hiccups on beam, the Huskies managed a 48.700. Olivia Oppegard made her first appearance in the beam lineup. Emily Innes led the team with a 9.875, while specialist Chelsea Hallinan followed closely with a 9.850.
Washington concluded the night with their strongest event, floor, leading all teams in the meet with a 48.975. Oppegard closed out her third event of the night with her first appearance in the lineup. Bolden made a strong floor debut, scoring a 9.800. Innes, the 2024 NCAA Regional co-apparatus champion, tied for first in the event with a 9.925.

The Dawgs head to New Brunswick to take on No. 16 Rutgers for its first-ever B1G meet on Saturday, Jan 18 at 11:00 a.m. PST. Washington will then be home at Alaska Airlines Arena to host No. 13 Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 8:00 p.m.
