Huskies Go For A Successful Spin At Magnuson
September 03, 2024 | Cross Country
SEATTLE – Washington's cross country teams only just reported to campus but already the Dawgs got one race under their belts, looping around one of the fields at Magnuson Park in a dual meet with Seattle U. The Huskies will now start to put in the work at their fall training camps and round into form over the fall, looking to peak at the NCAA Championships in November.
Both the 5th-ranked women's team and the 25th-ranked men's team put the top-eight finishers across the line. The women had Chloe Foerster and Julia David-Smith finish together, just a couple steps ahead of India Weir and Maeve Stiles, followed soon by Claire Yerby, Tori Herman, Ella Borsheim, and Josephine Welin. Foerster and David-Smith clocked 17:53 for the 5,000-meters.
The men had a blanket finish of eight come across the line that was made up of Tyrone Gorze, Leo Daschbach, Evan Jenkins, Jamar Distel, Ronan McMahon-Staggs, James Crabtree, Thom Diamond, and Rhys Hammond. The group ran 26:12 for 5-miles.
Washington will next race at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational on Sept. 27
