Carter And Jacobs End Run In All-American Quarters
September 27, 2024 | Women's Tennis
CARY, N.C. -- Washington's run in North Carolina came to a close today as Reece Carter and Alexia Jacobs had their outstanding doubles run ended in the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships. Carter and Jacobs matched the best run ever by a Husky doubles pair in the tournament, and in what was their first tournament playing together.
Carter and Jacobs had upset the No. 1-ranked doubles duo from Oklahoma State in the opening round of the tournament, and then earned another big win yesterday in the round of 16 over a South Carolina team ranked 27th.
But their run was stopped today by 15th-ranked Hance and Wagle of UCLA. The two teams went to a tiebreak in the first set, but UCLA took it, 7-3, and the Bruins carried that momentum into set two, pulling away for a 6-1 win to close it out.
