Whitcomb Named To 2024 Australian Team For Paris Olympics

Washington women's basketball alum Sami Whitcomb (2006-10) has been named to the 2024 Australian Women's Basketball Team roster that will compete at the Paris Olympics, the Basketball Australia and the Australian Olympic Committee announced. This will be Whitcomb's Olympic debut.
Whitcomb has two medals at FIBA World Cups – silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022 – as a member of Team Australia. She is in her eighth season in the WNBA, currently playing for the Seattle Storm, where she has won two championship titles with the team in 2018 and 2020.
At Washington, Whitcomb was a four-year letterwinner and All-Pac-10 selection multiple times during her career. During her senior campaign, she was a co-captain and started all 31 games, leading the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists. She still ranks in the UW Top 10 for made three-point field goals, free throw percentage, and is in the Husky 1,000-Point Club with 1,205 career points.
Whitcomb joins Kelsey Plum as Huskies headed to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Twenty-eight basketballers have secured their place on the Australian Olympic Team with the Australian Olympic Committee announcing the Boomers, Opals and 3x3 Gangurrus squads for Paris 2024 today.
Lauren Jackson, Patty Mills and Joe Ingles will play at their fifth Olympic Games, joining Andrew Gaze as the only Australian basketballers to play at five Olympics.
Alongside Jackson, Cayla George and Marianna Tolo will play at their third Games, Captain Tess Madgen, Rebecca Allen, Ezi Magbegor, Alanna Smith and Steph Talbot return for their second, while Kristy Wallace, Sami Whitcomb, Jade Melbourne and Isobel Borlase all make their Olympic debut. READ MORE
