
Brooks Jr. Selected As Finalist For Julius Erving Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Washington forward Keion Brooks Jr. is one of five finalists for the 2024 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year, The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday.
In his final season at Washington, Brooks is averaging a Pac-12-best 21.0 points per game, which ranks 12th in the country. He is also in the league's top-10 with a team-best 6.7 rebounds per game. Brooks is one of two DI players averaging 21.0 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 49% overall. The other is Zach Edey. The last Pac-12 player with those averages was Deandre Ayton. Neither aforementioned player shot 39 percent from three-point range.
Brooks improved his three-point shooting tremendously this season. He is shooting at a near-40-percent clip, up from his previous career best of 28 percent last year.
The Fort Wayne, Ind. product leads the Huskies in scoring, rebounding, three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage. Brooks reached 750 career rebounds on senior day amidst his 22nd 20-point game – the most by a Husky since 1997. He has three 30-point games this season and scored his 1,000th point as a Husky last month while entering the top ten on the UW single-season scoring list.
Brooks is the first Husky finalist for a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame award since Isaiah Stewart was a finalist for the 2020 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award. He is also one of 40 players under consideration for All-America and National Player of the Year honors, the USBWA announced last week.

Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies will open on Friday, Mar. 8th. The top player selections from the fan vote will get additional points towards the final vote count. Fans can vote on hoophallawards.com.
This list will be narrowed down to one player in late March which will be presented to Julius Erving and the selection committee. The winner of this award will be presented on a to be determined date the weekend of the Final Four. Presentation details will be announced at a later date.
Brooks and the Huskies conclude the regular season with the Boeing Apple Cup Series rivalry at No. 18 Washington State. The game tips off at 6 p.m. on Thursday on FS1.
