Huskies Match Season High Score But Drop Dual To Arizona State
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Washington Huskies gymnastics team fell to the Sun Devils Friday night, 196.500-196.825. The 196.500 mark matched a season high for the Forever 50, which they also earned at Stanford in early February.
Skylar Killough-Wilhelm led the Huskies in strong showings on all four events, enough to win the all-around title with a 39.475. The senior scored a 9.875 on bars, team high 9.850 on vault, a 9.825 on floor and a team-high and career-high-tying 9.925 on beam.
Aside from the vault rotation, the Huskies outscored Arizona State on all other events. Washington tied its season-best 49.250 on the bars rotation to start out the evening, led by sophomore Lilly Tubbs who tied her career-high 9.950.
The Huskies only had one 9.850+ on vault, by Skylar Killough-Wilhelm, and tried to continue the momentum from uneven bars but couldn't string together enough.
The latter half of the floor lineup gave the Huskies momentum as they wrapped up the final two rotations – with a 9.825 from Killough-Wilhelm, a 9.850 from Emily Innes and a season-high-tying 9.850 from Lana Navarro in the anchor to round out a 49.075 floor rotation.
The upperclassmen guided the team to tying its second highest beam score of the season. Taylor Russon earned a 9.9 in the third spot, Navarro with a season-high 9.875 in the fourth and Killough-Wilhelm with a 9.925 in the fifth boosted the GymDawgs to a 49.325 – tying the highest rotation score by either team.
