December 07, 2024 | Men's Basketball
SEATTLE - Washington fell behind early and was unable to overcome a red-hot shooting performance from USC on Saturday, falling 85-61 at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Mekhi Mason led the Huskies with 15 points, a season-high mark for the junior, knocking down 5-of-8 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws. Zoom Diallo also reached double figure scoring with 10.
The Trojans shot 70% from the field in the first half on 19-of-27 shooting, with Desmond Claude hitting a buzzer-beating three pointer to stretch the lead to 26 at the break, 51-25.
The Huskies made an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 23 midway through the second half but it wasn't nearly enough as the Trojans earned their first-ever Big Ten game.
The Huskies return to non-conference play on Tuesday, taking on Eastern Washington at 8 p.m. PT at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game will air on the Big Ten Network.
