No. 4 Husky Menβs Golf Kicks Off Spring At Southwestern Invitational
January 28, 2024 | Men's Golf
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. β Competing for the first time in 2024, No. 4 Washington Men's Golf resumes its season Monday through Wednesday at the Southwestern Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine at North Ranch Country Club.
Β
"We are looking forward to getting the spring season started," Husky head coach Alan Murray said. "It feels like a long time since our last event of the Fall and everyone is excited to get going again."
Β
The Huskies will be joined by two other ranked teams in the Clippd NCAA Divison I Men's rankings in No. 18 California and No. 21 Texas Tech. The Dawgs will be paired with the Golden Bears and host Pepperdine in the opening round.
Β
"Preparations haven't been ideal due to the bad weather we have experienced but I think every region of the country has been dealing with unusually bad weather in the last few weeks," Murray said. "We have had a good week of qualifying and our guys are pretty resilient at rolling with the punches."
Β
Play will begin at 8 a.m. PT each day at North Ranch Country Club from holes 1 and 10. The Huskies will be competing on a par-71 course at 6,800 yards on the Lakes and Oaks courses. Live scoring will be available through SMART Golf.
Β
"North Ranch is a really good golf course," Murray said. "This tournament always attracts a strong field and this year is no different. It is a great test right out of the gates for us and we have some guys with multiple events here which will be very helpful. The course demands good shots and a sharp mind so I believe it is the perfect place to start off."
Β
Washington's lineup for the Southwestern Invitational is as follows:
Β
1. Petr Hruby
2. Teddy Lin
3. Finn Koelle
4. Taehoon Song
5. Drew Warford
Β
Individual β Justin Bai
Β
"Drew Warford comes in to the lineup for Bo Peng who is sick and won't travel with us," Murray said. "Drew played for us at Sahalee and I know he is excited to have the chance to play as a starter for us this coming week. Justin Bai will play in his first college event as a freshman and he will compete as an individual so it's a great chance for him to experience a great course and a strong field at the collegiate level."
