
Meylan Named To USA Softball Player Of The Year Watch List

SEATTLE – Washington softball pitcher Ruby Meylan has been named one of 50 student-athletes tabbed to the USA Softball Player of the Year watch list.
Meylan is coming off a freshman campaign where she was named a NFCA Third Team All-American after posting a 2.14 ERA with an 18-7 record. She was one of three freshman this past year to strikeout over 200 batters, fanning 204 over her 46 appearances. In addition to her All-America honor, Meylan was named First Team All-Region, First Team All-Pac-12, Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team.
Over the summer, Meylan had her first opportunity to compete for the U.S. National Team for the Japan All-Star Series. In Japan, Meylan tossed 3.1 innings while only allowing three hits and one earned run with four strikeouts.
The Top 50 Watch List highlights athletes from 28 universities and six conference across the country. The Pac-12 has 10 student-athletes named to the list.
Top 25 Finalists will be announced on May 1 then narrowed down to the Top 10 on May 15. The final three finalists will be released on May 20 and the winner prior to the Women's College World Series.
Washington begins its season in 15 days at the Puerto Vallarta College Classic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico running from Feb. 8 to 10.
