SEATTLE – Washington head men's basketball coach Mike Hopkins and his staff signed coveted transfer Paul Mulcahy, maxing out Washington's 13 scholarships.
Mulcahy, a 6'7" guard from Bayonne, N.J., arrives on Montlake after a four-year stint at Rutgers. He was a two-time Big Ten Honorable Mention and a starter for the Scarlet Knights since his sophomore season. He averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 2022-23. Mulcahy also brings NCAA Tournament experience to the Huskies after appearing the Big Dance in consecutive seasons, which includes a tournament victory in 2021.
"Paul brings veteran leadership and elite toughness to our program," Hopkins said. "He is a skilled ball handler and impact defender who will be a difference-maker for us this season."
Mulcahy finished his career fourth on Rutgers' assist list. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
The Huskies have added six transfers in addition to four freshmen for the 2023-24 season to compliment the returning group of Keion Brooks Jr., Braxton Meah, Franck Kepnang and Koren Johnson.
